The Test of Time
In this challenge you create five couples and guide them through the eras making their name last through 20 generations of Sims.
The forum thread for the Test of Time:
The Official webite for Test of Time with all the rules though I don't think it's been updated in a while.
Given that everyone has a different playstyle, the rules can be altered to fit the individual players needs and most people I saw that were doing this challenge, added their own little touches. I decided to as well.
First, I use inteen and acr. Plus a hacked wedding arch enabling me to pair up anyone regardless of relationship or age. This has led to ages in the generation being fairly mixed up as teens got married and had children of their own. A lot of times they were still having babies when they became grandparents. I've changed it back to only adults actively try for babies, but accidents can still happen with the teens and if a pregnancy does happen, the two teens are immediately married. Also, during later eras, some inbreeding might be a thing, however....
As the majority of the neighborhood becomes related and family purity isn't a thing yet in the caveman era, I figure the boys of the neighborhood would hike out, possibly capturing outside tribal women for their brides. When a male is ready for marriage, he goes hiking and each time, I roll a die and if I roll a six, I teleport a townie female of appropriate age to the lot and change her name to something fitting and give her a clothing makeover and she becomes his captured bride. For of age girls with no possible mates in the neighborhood, their fathers or brothers go hiking and again, a 6 gets them an age appropriate mate that again, is teleported into the lot, renamed and made over, then moved out to his own lot with his new bartered bride. If there are no male family members to go searching, the girl has to go hiking on her own and if she rolls a six, an older townie male captures her. She'll bear the elder male a few children until he dies of old age. If she had no male children, she moves back in with her oldest male relative.
Yes, history is very misogynistic. However, homosexual sims are allowed and will not be required to marry. Instead, they'll either continue helping out in their families household or find a job in the neighborhood, like Adelina and Marina being the caretakers of the teen mingling lot and eventual highschool and Puja and Lucilia running the orphanage, which will later become the elementary. Later, other homosexual sims will become priests and priestesses.
The rules state a small number of beds and only a small home allowed. But as families grew larger, so have their home and number of beds. Until the greek/troy era (see additional modules on the official website linked above), they are not allowed seperate rooms (aside from the bathroom) and the only reason each household gets a tub is due to a lucky dice role for the Disasters and Miracles module.
I have a community lot as well, the Wilds, which has a lot of nice things for the Sims to do, but they can only visit it on Sundays. Eventually this lot will become the bathhouse in later eras.
There may be other quirks in my gameplay, but I'll detail them as they come up.
